Research interests
Araya brings rich PPI experience to KIS, having previously participated in service user reference groups and research panels, reviewed lay summaries, and provided feedback on patient-facing materials to ensure clarity and accessibility. She has also contributed to conferences and workshops focused on improving patient voice in research design and delivery. The opportunity to engage with KIS arose naturally from this work, and Araya was drawn to KIS’s emphasis on practical impact and collaboration between service users, researchers, and clinical teams.
Araya is passionate about advocating for the representation of minority populations in research, recognising the critical importance of inclusive methodologies and equitable health outcomes. She strongly believes that research and health services must reflect the diverse realities of the populations they aim to serve. As someone from a minority background, Araya is committed to challenging disparities by ensuring that people from marginalised or vulnerable groups are not only included but meaningfully involved in shaping the work that affects them.
